How do I enroll a student in a class: You can only enroll students in a valid class. A valid class is one that is currently meeting (as of the day you are trying to make the enrollment). This feature prevents accidentally entering students into classes that are no longer meeting. If you need to enroll students in advance of when the class actually meets, you must first open up the class profile and change the class "Start Date" to a date prior to the day on which you are entering the enrollments. After you have finished entering the enrollments, remember to change the "Start Date" in the class profile back to the actual start date of the class. Top

How do I add a student to YouthStar: To add a student to YouthStar you must enroll the student in a valid class. You cannot add students to YouthStar unless there is a class profile in YouthStar, and that class has a start date the same as or before the day on which you are making enrollments, or a end date after the day on which making enrollments. See previous FAQ for related information.

When I take monthly attendance, the snacks defaults to "yes" even though I have "no" checked. This occurs when you have previously taken attendance for the month with the snacks default set to "no." The first time you take attendance for a class YouthStar records the attendance using the defaults at that time. When you take attendance again for the same class and the same month, YouthStar merely displays the existing records, so as to avoid overwriting your attendance data with new information. So, if you've taken attendance once with the default set to "yes" and then change the default to "no", YouthStar will still display "yes", because that's what's in the existing attendance records.

My attendance report shows that students have attended through the end of this month, even though we're only partially through the month. This happens when you use the Monthly Attendance method before the end of the month. When you open the Monthly Attendance form and click on a class and a student, YouthStar automatically takes attendance for the student for the entire month... even if the month is not yet complete. You must revisit the attendance screen at the end of the month and correct the data. If you need to take attendance before month's end, we suggest that you use the Daily Attendance method.

I want to remove a student's records from YouthStar. Use the "Remove Student" feature in the Utilities screen.
